Side Grip Vibro Rigs

AGD Rental were the first piling equipment hire company in the UK to offer pile driving rigs for rental and we have being doing so for 25 years. We have recently invested in 8 brand new hammers and now offer a range of excavator mounted pile driving rigs using both side grip vibro and impact hammer technologies.

Featured in a video below is one of our SMS side grip vibros mounted on a Hyundai HX330L excavator installing 8 m long U profile sheet piles in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. The sheet piles are being used to construct a retaining wall for a railway embankment. A photo shows it with the Inpieq IHE15 impact hammer mounted, back driving the piles to finished level.

The new Hyundai HX330L excavators of which we have four, all with stage IV or V engines can also be set up to drive steel tubular piles, precast concrete piles and wooden piles as well as sheet piles and H piles with our accelerated INPIEQ IHE15 and IHE22 hydraulic impact hammers. With it's quick hitch system it is a perfect partner to switch from the SMS side grip vibro to the impact hammer to back drive piles to a set or to level, as it is light and easy to transport and can be delivered to site quickly and economically. We have machines available fitted with rubber tracks for working on roads or other finished surfaces. Click on the link below to see a video of the impact hammer in action driving sheet piles to final level.

All of our excavators can be supplied with dangle drills for pre-augering harder soils. Click on the links below to download specs on both models we have available, the larger of which is one of the most powerful on the market, with 3.1 ton metres of torque. This can also be used with larger diameter augers up to 600 mm for drilling holes for king post installations on embankments where a standard drilling rig might not be able to access site.

We alos have a Pajot 1200C air hammer for back driving sheet piles in restricted access or if only a small amount of back driving is required.  We also have helmets available for driving small diameter tubular piles with the same air hammer. Click on the link below to see some videos of this air hammer in operation. We can also draw from Pajot's fleet of other air hammers and extractors to hire out as required.

All of our excavator mounted driven piling rigs are available for hire nationwide with experienced CPCS qualified operators. We also have PTS operators for railway work.

Additionally any of our RTG telescopic leader rigs may be hired with MR150AVM 150 tons vibro and a 5 tons Fambo HR5000 hydraulic hammer for installation and back driving of sheet piles, H beams and tubes as required.

Our centrally located facility in the heart of the Midlands allows us to offer competitive mobilisation costs for excavator mounted pile driving rig hire throughout the UK. We are also happy to receive enquiries to supply pile driving rigs on hire anywhere in Europe.

You may download specification sheets for our fleet of excavator mounted side grip, impact hammer rigs and air hammers for hire below.

Side Grip Vibro Rigs FAQ

What is a side grip vibro rig, and how does it work?
A side grip vibro rig is an excavator-mounted piling system that clamps onto the side of a pile and uses vibration to drive or extract it. Unlike traditional top-mounted vibro hammers, it allows the operator to pick up, position and install piles using a single machine.
What types of piles can side grip vibro rigs install?
Side grip vibro rigs can install a wide range of pile types, including sheet piles, H-beams, tubular piles, precast concrete piles and timber piles. This makes them suitable for both permanent and temporary works across multiple applications.
What are the advantages of side grip vibro rigs compared to traditional piling methods?
The main advantages are speed, flexibility and reduced equipment requirements. A single excavator-mounted unit can handle, pitch and drive piles without the need for cranes or additional lifting equipment, improving efficiency and reducing costs on site.
Can side grip vibro rigs be used in restricted or low headroom sites?
Yes, side grip vibro rigs are ideal for confined spaces, working under bridges, in rail environments or on urban sites with limited height. Because the pile is gripped from the side, they eliminate the need for tall leader systems or cranes.
Do you supply operators with your side grip vibro rigs?
Yes, all of our excavator-mounted piling rigs are available with experienced CPCS-qualified operators. We can also provide PTS-qualified operators for railway work where required.
What additional equipment can be used with your side grip vibro rigs?
Our rigs can be quickly configured with different attachments, including hydraulic impact hammers for back driving piles, dangle drills for pre-augering and air hammers for finishing or working in restricted areas. This allows us to offer a flexible and complete piling solution.
